ABOUT THE
FOUNDATION

The Foundation is a separate, nongovernmental, nonprofit, public charitable 501(c) (3) support organization for the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks (GFP).

MISSION

To enhance outdoor recreation for future generations and preserve our parks and wildlife.

VISION

To bring together private resources and SD Game, Fish & Parks to preserve and expand outdoor recreational opportunities.

History

The South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, registered in South Dakota. It was incorporated in 1985 for the purpose of working with donors to develop and enhance wildlife habitat, parks and recreation activities in partnership with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks. The vision of the Foundation is to bring together private resources and SD Game, Fish & Parks to preserve and expand outdoor recreational opportunities.

The Foundation is governed by a board of directors comprised of up to 15 members and two ex-officio members. An Executive Development Director provides administrative oversight and fundraising efforts for the organization while an assistant, employed by the Game, Fish and Parks Department, provides administrative support.
