Current Projects need your support
The Outdoor Campus West officially opened on October 6, 2011. It includes an indoor education center with exhibits, hands-on activities, a library, large freshwater aquarium and several classroom and meeting spaces. It also makes use of its 30 acre site on the northwest side of Rapid City with trails to outdoor activity and classroom areas and a variety of ecosystems.
Dozens of courses will be offered for people of all ages both inside and outside the facility. The courses will be offered primarily in four core areas: hunting, fishing, outdoor education and outdoor skills.
Extensive information on the Campus, its hours, location, programs, and special events, is available at The Outdoor Campus West.
CONTRIBUTIONS
Many of the exhibits and educational enhancements were made possible by private contributions exceeding $1,000,000. These contributions included tax-deductible gifts, large and small, up to $300,000.
Contributions in any amount will help achieve the mission of The Outdoor Campus West to provide outdoor education experiences to youth and adults. Donations are suitable for memorials, to honor individuals, as part of a charitable giving or public relations program, or to communicate your support for outdoor education. All donors will be listed in the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation's annual report, and contributions of $5000 or more will be recognized on the donor wall at the Campus. There are several ways to give.
Sponsor an Exhibit or make a donation to the education fund: See remaining sponsorship opportunitie. The name of the sponsor of each element is being placed on a permanent sign next to the sponsored item. To arrange for a sponsorship, download the form for major donors, fill it out and send it with your contribution (which may be in the form of a 1-3 year pledge) to the SD Parks and Wildlife Foundation, 523 E. Capitol, Pierre, SD 57501. Questions may be directed to Dick and Sue Brown, 605-673-4017, brownassociates@goldenwest.net.
Buy a paver: Donors may purchase pavers for $100, $250, $500, $1000 and $2500 (4" x 8" to 12" x 16" depending on contribution amount) which will be engraved with the donor's name or message. Dozens of pavers ordered in spring and summer of 2011 are already installed in the South Patio. More pavers will be installed annually. To make a paver gift, download the form for Pavers, fill it out and send it to the SD Parks and Wildlife Foundation, 523 E. Capitol, Pierre, SD 57501.
Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to teach, assist teachers, answer questions, guide and more. We encourage all who love the Outdoors to become a contributor to the Outdoor Campus West at a level and in a way which fits your commitment to the preservation of South Dakota's outdoor heritage and your own outdoor and educational interests.
