Current Projects need your support
Learning about the outdoors and conservation are important experiences for youth, and it is one of the core missions of our Foundation. An exciting new grant program from our Foundation was recently created by the family and friends of Tony and Dar Dean. They have established the Tony and Dar Dean Outdoor Education Fund in memory of outdoor broadcaster and writer who died in 2008. Tony was widely known as a strong advocate for outdoor education and Dar continues her strong commitment to enhancing outdoor education opportunities.
The grants funded through the Tony and Dar Dean Education Fund are intended to provide resources and support to individuals and organizations desiring to provide quality educational outdoor experiences, and are intended to be used in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to:
funding travel for students or groups to educational events
providing supplies and materials to promote outdoor knowledge and skills
creating new activities and events that increase outdoor knowledge and participation among South Dakota families and youth
The application period for accepting grant proposals for 2011 will run from August 15-October 15, 2011. Grant awards will be a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $1,500. A total of $3,000 is available to applicants for calendar year 2011. See the following document for grant details. Grant Program Summary
